A reconciliation meeting between President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani will take place within days, according to informed sources who are preparing the meeting.
The sources, close to the reconciliation negotiations launched by Saudi Arabia, told Al-Masry Al-Youm that the Saudi initiative to restore ties between Egypt and Qatar included ameeting, sponsored by the Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdel Aziz, for senior officials from Cairo and Doha in Riyad two days ago.
Officials from Sisi’s office attended the meeting for reconciliation, initated on Saturday by the Saudi king, the sources said.
Meanwhile, a statement by the Qatari palace expressed interest in boosting ties with Egypt after Sisi received the Tamim’s envoy at time when Saudi Arabia confirmed response by the two countries toward its initiative.
