Registered divorces up 10.9% in 2014

Registered divorces in Egypt inched up by 10.9 percent to 180,344 during 2014, according to a government report which recorded a parallel, but smaller, increase in recorded marriages of 4.8 percent to stand at 953,137.
 
Males aged from 25 to 30 years represented the highest percentage of the recorded married males during 2014 (43.3 percent), while females aging between 20 and 25 were the highest percentage among the total of females who got married during the same year (39.4 percent), said a report on Monday by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).
 
Around 20.1 percent of divorce cases were of males aged between 30 and 35, while the highest percentage among women (22.4) were among those aged between 25 and 30.
 
Male holders of average academic degrees recorded the highest percentage of divorces with 31.7 percent of total divorces, with the percentage standing at 29.5 percent with women of the same educational level.
