Border guard killed, two injured in Sinai attack

Armed gunmen killed one border guard and injured two others in a rocket attack on an armoured police vehicle on Saturday night.

The wounded troops were taken to Arish military hospital, while the assailants fled.

The Sinai Peninsula has witnessed numerous attacks on police and army units since the overthrow of President Mohamed Morsy early July, which left several soldiers dead.

In another incident, a security source said unidentified attackers had planted IEDs inside a vacant building run by intelligence services in Qassima, central Sinai, setting the building ablaze.

An army camp in Beir al-Abd also came under heavy gunfire. No casualties were reported.
