Israel finishes building border fence with Egypt

Israeli Radio reported on Wednesday morning that Tel Aviv has completed building the last section of the border fence between Israel and Egypt in the area of Eilat.

The fence is 245 km long, according to the radio station. It extends from Rafah in the north to Eilat in the south, and aims to prevent terrorist elements and African immigrants from infiltrating Israel from Sinai.

The radio quoted a senior army officer as saying that the security authorities “monitor terrorist elements, even when they are in Sinai and works to thwart their plans to infiltrate into the Israeli territories.”
