Journalists insist on abolishing Article 33 of the anti-terrorism law

Khaled al-Balshy, undersecretary of the Journalists Syndicate, said the new anti-terrorism law has been suspended until the opening of the New Suez Canal, noting that the syndicate had not received any response from the government.

“We have heard that the United Nations and a number of international organizations sent their objections to the presidency,” he said. “It seems it is reconsidering the law.”

“We insist on abolishing Article 33 and all its amendments that impose fines and jail sentences on journalists,” he said.
