Locust control teams were dispatched Thursday in Marsa Alam in the Red Sea Governorate after an outbreak of locusts.

The locusts first were sighted around 57 kilometers north of the city and then made their way to the vacation hotspot soon after, according to the Red Sea Emergency Operations Center.

The teams will use insecticides to kills the insects that likely migrated from Sudan.
