Stock market gains LE1.8 billion

Stock indices rose collectively by the end of Sunday’s trading session, supported by Arab and foreign purchases against Egyptian sales.

The capital market gained LE1.8 billion, ending at LE401 billion, after a total trading of around LE504.1 million.

The main EGX30 index rose by 0.38 percent to hit 6,194.84 points, the small and medium stocks EGX70 index rose by 0.53 percent to 517.35 points, and the broader EGX100 index rose by 0.41 percent to close at 868.56 points.

Experts attributed the market climb to positive news about the improved economic situation in Egypt at the Reuters Investment Summit and the new aid package from the United Arab Emirates.

“The climb was due to a market appetite for profit-taking,” said financial expert Wael Enaba, expecting the market to rise again.
