The 2B Continued program supports promising directors, choreographers

Back with its 6th edition, the 2B Continued Lab and Festival aims to add to the performing arts scene in Cairo through fostering promising directors and choreographers in turning their vision to real, intriguing work.

Since 2008, Studio Emaddedin and Orient Productions has been joining forces to bring a comprehensive, mentoring program as well as a cultural festival with unique perspective to Cairo.

The 2B Continued Lab and Festival gives up to two aspiring applicants from each category a hands-on experience and financial support to help them bring their pieces to life.

The program also puts selected applicants directly in contact with experienced mentors, set designers, light designers, stage managers, and adroit technical staff from Studio Emaddedin's workshops.

The works of the winners will be performed at Falaki theatre as part of the festival showcase in January 2016.

The deadline of participation is June 1st for theatre and June 7th for dance.

As in the previous edition, the mentor for the directors' program will be Studio Emad Eddin's founder Ahmed El Attar, an independent theatre director and playwright, whose work has been performed in Europe, the UK, and the UAE.

As for the dance program, renowned choreographer Laurence Rondoni, director of the Descent-danse company for contemporary dance will be in charge. Through her company, Rondoni has been teaming up with Egyptian artists for over a decade in an effort to enhance the devolvement of the contemporary dance scene in Egypt.

Participants in previous editions of the festival have been put on the right track of success: Yasmeen Emam, whose mono-drama Mirror was voted best performance by audience members in the 2B Continued's 2014 edition, has been awarded with a grant which will enable her to take her show to the US in 2015, where an English translation of her piece will be performed in Boston. Yasmeen has also recently published her first long play, One Shoe for All.
