The prosecution of north Cairo renewed the detention of 97 supporters of toppled President Mohamed Morsy. The defendants will be detained another 15 days pending investigation into the Ramses Square protest violence.
According to Al-Masry Al-Youm's judicial source, investigators said the defendants gathered at Ramses Square on Friday, attempted to block the 6 of October Bridge and storm al-Azbakeya Police Station and some of them used bird shot, Molotov cocktails and bladed weapons, .
The defendants had gathered outside al-Fatah Mosque in Ramses Square and blocked the road before some of them headed to the 6 October Bridge to block it with a wall of stones.
