Egypt expands train service for Sudanese voluntary returns

Dozens of Sudanese citizens gathered at Cairo’s Ramses Station on Wednesday morning in preparation for the departure of the sixth trip in the voluntary return program to their country.

Two trains have been operated for the program in response to the increasing demand for the initiative. The first train departed last Sunday, with the second leaving on Wednesday.

An additional passenger car was added to Wednesday’s train to accommodate the rising number of travelers and provide more capacity.

The operation of two trains is intended to increase the program’s capacity due to the growing interest from Sudanese people wishing to return home.

The trains depart from Ramses Station, travel to Aswan, and from there on will continue to Sudanese territory.
