The Egyptian Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, approved comprehensive new regulations for organizing foreign filming in Egypt.
The core of the new system establishes the Egypt Film Commission (EFC)—affiliated with the Egyptian Media Production City—as the sole authorized body responsible for all coordination, approvals, and permits for foreign production companies.
Key features of the new Regulations include:
-
Single digital window (SDW): A mandatory online portal, managed by the EFC, through which all foreign filming requests must be processed.
-
Mandatory coordination: All government entities must electronically link with and coordinate through the EFC to streamline services.
-
Promotion and support: The EFC is tasked with promoting Egypt globally, offering logistical support, facilitating customs procedures for equipment, and providing incentives for major international projects.
-
Local content support: The EFC will nominate local Egyptian production companies and technical staff to participate in foreign projects.
The goal is to simplify bureaucracy, attract global investment, and ensure the efficient and secure execution of foreign films and production projects in Egypt.
