Armed Forces will remain Egypt’s shield

Egyptian Armed Forces Spokesperson Gharib Abdel Hafez has affirmed that the army will remain the nation’s shield and committed to protecting Egypt’s security and stability.

In televised comments from a unit of the Egyptian Special Forces (thunderbolt forces), Abdel Hafez highlighted the enduring spirit of the October 6, 1973 War, saying it continues to inspire resilience and national development.

He recalled the achievements of the October War, praising the Egyptian soldiers’ determination and the military’s ability to overcome superior enemy capabilities through training, planning, and coordination among air, naval, and ground forces.

The spokesperson reviewed the army’s roles, including securing borders and combating smuggling and illegal migration, pointing out to recent successes such as 16 major border-protection operations from late 2024 to mid-2025 that seized large quantities of drugs, weapons, and contraband.

He also outlined Egypt’s comprehensive strategy against terrorism—combining security, development, and social programs—which has gained international recognition.

He emphasized the sacrifices of the Armed Forces and police in restoring stability and enabling national development.

Regarding military modernization, the spokesperson pointed out to significant upgrades since 2013 across all branches, including advanced aircraft, naval fleets, air-defense systems, and expanded joint military exercises—such as the large multinational Bright Star drills.

Such military exercises offer significant benefits to all participating countries, including strengthening military cooperation and strategic ties, building capabilities to confront shared threats, enhancing the readiness and efficiency of the Armed Forces, and exchanging expertise between participating troops, Abdel Hafez noted.

The spokesperson concluded by reaffirming that the Egyptian Armed Forces will continue fulfilling their national duty, supported by the unity of the great Egyptian people.
