An Israeli blogger has sparked widespread backlash after claiming that the Egyptian dessert chain, B-Laban, was preparing to open a branch in Israel. The company released an official statement to refute the allegations and clarify its position.
The controversy began when an Israeli content creator posted a video on Instagram, appearing in the signature B-Laban staff uniform and reviewing products in a style that mimicked the brand’s well-known social media advertisements.
In an official statement, B-Laban asserted that “claims regarding the opening of branches within the occupied territories are entirely baseless and have no connection to reality.”
The company emphasized “categorically and clearly” its Egyptian roots and 100 percent Arab identity, stating it has no current or future plans for activities or partnerships within Israel, adding, “We do not recognize them to begin with.”
The statement further clarified: “There is no expansion or direct/indirect dealings within Israel. Any rumors to the contrary are a deliberate attempt at defamation and a calculated confusion between our brand and trademark thieves with whom we have no association.”
The company noted that its trademark is legally protected and that it is taking all necessary legal measures against any unauthorized use of its name, uniform, or branding.
B-Laban concluded by reaffirming its political stance: “Our position remains firm and clear: we are an integral part of this nation and the conscience of the Egyptian and Arab public. We have never been, and will never be, in a position that contradicts the popular and national stance regarding the Palestinian cause.”
