Egypt welcomed the announcement of the ceasefire agreement between the Syrian government and the Syrian Democratic Forces, including an understanding on the launch of a phased integration process.
In a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Emigration, and Egyptian Expatriates on Saturday January 31, 2026, Egypt expressed its hope that this agreement would represent an important step toward launching an inclusive political process that brings together all Syrian components without exclusion, contributes to supporting the unity of the Syrian state, enhances its security and stability, and preserves its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
“Egypt reaffirmed its firm position on the necessity of preserving Syria’s unity and supporting its national state institutions, stressing the importance of providing sustainable security and stability for all components of the Syrian people in a manner that guarantees the protection of the rights of all citizens, strengthens national cohesion, and continues efforts to combat terrorism in all its forms, as this constitutes a fundamental pillar for restoring stability and improving humanitarian and living conditions in Syria,” said the statement.
“Egypt also reiterated its complete rejection of any foreign interference or aggression targeting the unity and territorial integrity of Syrian land,” the statement said.
“Egypt further stressed its continued support for all efforts aimed at reaching a comprehensive and sustainable political settlement to the Syrian crisis, in a way that fulfills the aspirations of the brotherly Syrian people for security, stability, and development, and paves the way for a phase of recovery and reconstruction,” added the statement.
