Iranian regime remains intact despite ‘Epic Fury’ strikes: Washington Post

US and Israeli intelligence officials have concluded that the Iranian government is not on the verge of collapse and remains firmly in control of the state, despite an intensifying military campaign.

According to a report published Friday by The Washington Post, intelligence assessments suggest the regime’s power structure has proved resilient in the face of unprecedented strikes.

The report details the strategic framework of “Operation Epic Fury,” a multi-pronged campaign authorized by President Trump.

According to officials, the operation is centered on four primary objectives: the systematic destruction of Tehran’s ballistic missile program, the neutralization of the Iranian naval fleet, the dismantling of regional proxies, and the absolute prevention of Iran’s transition to a nuclear-armed state.

Security sources cited by the Post indicate the sheer scale of the aerial campaign. An anonymous security official revealed that approximately 40 percent of the estimated 8,000 Israeli airstrikes have specifically targeted Iranian security forces and internal defense infrastructure.

Addressing the situation on Thursday evening, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu commented on his previous calls for the Iranian public to protest against the government, acknowledging the significant difficulty of such a movement.

“It is too early to determine if or when Iranians will take to the streets in protest,” Netanyahu stated. He emphasized a strategic shift in rhetoric, noting that “a revolution cannot be achieved from the air alone; there must be a ground element.” While hinting at several covert options currently under consideration, the Prime Minister declined to provide further specifics.

Since February 28, Iran has faced a relentless wave of attacks that have claimed the lives of high-ranking leaders, including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and Ali Larijani, Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council. The strikes have resulted in hundreds of casualties among both military personnel and civilians. In retaliation, Tehran has continued to target US interests across the region and launched large-scale strikes against Israeli territory, signaling a protracted and dangerous escalation in the Middle East.
