Cairo University, Northwest University of China discuss Scientific Research Cooperation

Cairo University and Northwest University discussed on Thursday, 16/4/2026, ways to enhance cooperation in education, scientific research, and academic exchange.

The discussions came during a meeting between Cairo University Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research Mahmoud el-Saeed and Yan Wei, professor at the Faculty of Economics and Management at the Chinese university.

Saeed highlighted the depth of strategic relations between Egypt and China across various fields, noting that the two countries have ancient civilizations and share aspirations to expand cooperation in multiple sectors.

He said Cairo University comprises 26 faculties and institutes covering various disciplines, with approximately 250,000 students enrolled and more than 1,300 academic programs in medical, engineering, political, and social sciences. He added that the university has signed more than 30 cooperation protocols with Chinese universities as part of efforts to broaden international partnerships, exchange expertise, and enhance its global rankings.

For his part, Yan expressed pleasure at visiting Cairo University and praised discussions on future cooperation, especially in economics and management. He also invited Saeed to attend one of China’s largest education conferences next May, coinciding with the 70th anniversary of Egypt-China relations.

The meeting was attended by Mamdouh Ismail, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Political Science at Cairo University, along with a number of university officials from both sides.
