
CAIRO, April 20 (MENA) – Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly said Egypt is in talks with several countries to establish logistics hubs for grain and oil storage, supply and trade, aiming to strengthen food security.
Madbouly made the remarks during a meeting on Monday to review plans for establishing a global grain and oil logistics center in Egypt.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Hussein Issa, Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Sherif Farouk, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Planning and Economic Development Ahmed Rostom, and Chairman of the General Authority of the Suez Canal Economic Zone Walid Gamal al-Din, among other officials.
The discussions with partner countries included technical studies and storage mechanisms, with officials stressing the need to quickly complete feasibility studies, set a clear timeline, and assign a lead authority for the project.
Madbouly tasked the supply ministry and the Future of Egypt Authority for Sustainable Development with finalizing a detailed feasibility study covering the hub’s size, cost and returns, as well as Egypt’s contribution and incentives. (MENA)
