Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Sherif Fathy said on Thursday, May 7, 2026, that his ministry is working to expand cooperation with the private sector through more flexible partnership models aimed at strengthening the competitiveness of Egypt’s tourism industry.
In his remarks during meetings of the World Travel & Tourism Council in Egypt, Fathy explained the ministry depends on data and performance indicators in shaping tourism policies and development plans.
He added that the government has built a cooperation framework with the private sector through broad participation in tourism projects and investment opportunities.
Fathy also stressed the global tourism sector can recover quickly from crises, noting that restoring air travel and transportation activity remains essential for supporting tourism growth.
Additionally, the minister said that rising global prices have affected tourism movement in some markets, while aviation fuel availability remains important for maintaining air traffic and tourist flows.
