Egypt heatwave to intensify starting June

The Egyptian Meteorological Authority has released the weather forecast for the current week, warning of a gradual rise in temperatures across the country coinciding with the first days of June.

The weather will be mild in the early morning, turning hot during the day across Greater Cairo and Lower Egypt. Meanwhile, it will be warm along the northern coasts and extremely hot across the southern regions of the country.

At night, moderate temperatures will prevail nationwide. Meteorologists indicate that daytime highs in Greater Cairo and Lower Egypt will reach 35°C by next Thursday, while the southern regions of Upper Egypt will see a significant spike, hitting up to 44°C.

Weather maps also project light, intermittent rainfall on Sunday, May 31, over parts of the northern coasts and northern Lower Egypt, alongside satellite-monitored wind activity across most areas from Sunday through Thursday.

For Saturday’s temperatures, Greater Cairo and Lower Egypt will record a high of 33°C and a low of 21°C.
