FM reviews Egyptian efforts to strengthen regional security, stability

Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty affirmed on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, Egypt’s commitment to continuing cooperation with regional and international parties to contain crises and resolve conflicts through peaceful means, in a way that strengthens security and stability and fulfills the aspirations of the peoples of the region for development and prosperity.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs made the remarks during a meeting with representatives of major newspapers and international news agencies in the Republic of Korea, as part of his current visit to the capital, Seoul.

The meeting falls within the framework of Egypt’s media outreach efforts aimed at highlighting the principles guiding Egyptian foreign policy on various regional and international issues, as well as presenting the country’s efforts to support security and stability in the Middle East.

Abdelatty reviewed Egypt’s intensive efforts to promote security and stability across the region, stemming from its pivotal role and regional responsibilities.

He stressed Egypt’s keenness to continue working with all regional and international stakeholders to contain crises and settle disputes through peaceful means, thereby contributing to the consolidation of security and stability and supporting the region’s development aspirations.

The meeting featured an extensive interactive dialogue between the foreign minister and representatives of Korean and international media outlets, covering a number of regional and international issues.

Discussions focused on developments in the Middle East, the latest progress in negotiations between the United States and Iran, and Egypt’s efforts, in cooperation with regional and international partners, to de-escalate tensions and reach an agreement that addresses the concerns of all parties.

The meeting addressed developments related to the Palestinian cause, Sudan, Lebanon, the Horn of Africa, and the situation in the Red Sea, with Abdelatty outlining the key principles underpinning Egypt’s stance on these issues.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs reviewed Egyptian-South Korean relations, praising the steady progress in bilateral ties within the framework of the comprehensive cooperative partnership between the two countries.

He underscored the shared interest in further strengthening economic, trade and investment cooperation and attracting more South Korean investments to the Egyptian market.

Abdelatty further highlighted the strengths and promising investment opportunities of the Egyptian economy, citing the economic and structural reforms implemented by the Egyptian state in recent years and the favorable investment climate they have created.

He expressed Egypt’s aspiration to elevate economic cooperation with South Korea to broader horizons, in a manner that serves the mutual interests of the two countries.
