Egypt welcomes agreement reached between US, Iran

Egypt welcomed on Monday, June 15, 2026, the agreement reached between the US and Iran terming it as a highly significant development that has the potential to restore security and stability at the regional and international levels.

Egypt voiced hope that the agreement would serve as a major turning point toward strengthening mutual trust, laying new foundations for cooperation, fostering an environment conducive to peace and advancing diplomatic efforts aimed at addressing other outstanding regional issues.

In a statement on Monday, June 15, 2026, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates noted that, under the directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, Egypt pursued serious and sincere efforts in coordination with regional and international partners to help reach this milestone, bring the conflict to an end and open a new chapter that enhances security and stability across the region.

Cairo emphasized that such progress would have a positive impact on the security and stability of the Middle East, reaffirming longstanding commitment to peaceful solutions and the settlement of disputes through diplomatic means.

The ministry stressed that resolving differences through dialogue and negotiation remains a fundamental approach to achieving peace and consolidating stability, in accordance with the principles of international law and the Charter of the UN.

The current approach contributes to reducing tensions, resolving conflicts and creating a more favorable environment for cooperation, development and the prosperity of the peoples of the region, according to the statement.

Egypt also reiterated hope that the end of the war would enable the international community to refocus attention on the dire humanitarian and security conditions facing the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, the statement added.
