Defense Minister meets Libyan National Army Deputy Commander-in-Chief, Chief of General Staff

Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Minister of Defense and Military Production Ashraf Salem Zaher met on Sunday, June 28,2026, with Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan National Army (LNA) Saddam Haftar and Chief of the General Staff of the LNA Khaled Haftar, during their official visit to Egypt to attend the graduation ceremony of new classes from the Military Academy for Postgraduate and Strategic Studies.

The meeting was attended by Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces Lt. Gen. Ahmed Khalifa, along with a number of senior military commanders from both countries.

The talks covered a number of issues of mutual interest and ways to support and strengthen military cooperation between the Egyptian and Libyan armed forces.

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces expressed pride in the longstanding ties between the two countries, affirming Egypt’s and its Armed Forces’ commitment to supporting the Libyan people and the Libyan Armed Forces.

He also stressed the importance of continuing coordination and unifying joint efforts to secure the common border, curb illegal migration, and support the foundations of security and stability across all Libyan territories.

For their part, Saddam Haftar and Khaled Haftar expressed their deep appreciation for Egypt’s steadfast support for the Libyan people in preserving the country’s safety, unity, and territorial integrity.

They voiced aspiration for further joint cooperation between the armed forces of the two countries in the coming period.
