FM reaffirms Egypt’s support for Palestinian legitimate rights

Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt’s steadfast support for the Palestinian people and their legitimate rights during a meeting on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, with Palestinian State Minister for Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Varsen Aghabekian Shahin.

The meeting was held on the sidelines of the ministerial meeting on Jerusalem in Jordan’s capital, Amman.

Abdelatty stressed Egypt’s complete rejection of all illegal Israeli measures in the occupied Palestinian territories, including attempts at annexation or forced displacement, ongoing violations in East Jerusalem, and infringements on Islamic and Christian holy sites that undermine the existing historical and legal reality.

The talks also addressed developments in the Gaza Strip following the announcement of a roadmap to complete the implementation of US President Donald Trump’s comprehensive peace plan.

Abdelatty stressed the importance of fulfilling all commitments under the roadmap and ensuring the full delivery of humanitarian aid, paving the way for the next phase of the plan and ultimately the establishment of an independent Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
