Foreign Minister probes with Japan’s Toyota Tsusho economic, investment cooperation

Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty discussed on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, with Toshimitsu Imai, Chief Executive Officer of Japanese group Toyota Tsusho, ways to enhance economic and investment cooperation between Egypt and the group.

During the meeting, Minister Abdelatty expressed appreciation for the existing cooperation between Egypt and Toyota Tsusho, praising the company’s role as a partner in several economic sectors.

He affirmed his aspiration to build on the outcomes of the meeting he held with the company during his visit to Japan last June, with the aim of enhancing the group’s contribution to the development of the renewable energy and automotive manufacturing and assembly sectors.

The minister also underscored Egypt’s interest in establishing a Japanese industrial zone in the Suez Canal Economic Zone and strengthening the presence of Japanese companies in the Egyptian market to benefit from the competitive advantages offered by the zone.

He expressed his aspiration to cooperate with the company in attracting Japanese investments and transferring technology and industrial expertise, particularly in light of Toyota Tsusho’s chairmanship of the Japanese side of the Egyptian-Japanese Business Council.
