Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Hani Sewilam arrived in Rome on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, to participate in the 2026 Euro-Mediterranean Water Forum, which runs from September 29 to October 2.
The forum brings together ministers, senior officials, experts, and representatives of international and regional organizations and institutions working on water-related issues.
Sewilam is scheduled to participate in a series of high-level events and sessions, including the opening session and a high-level session titled “From the Ministerial Meeting on Water to the UN Water Conference”.
He will also take part in a session on “Management of Non-Conventional Water Resources,” in addition to specialized sessions focusing on coastal groundwater, the future of water management, and the role of younger generations in addressing water challenges.
Several bilateral meetings are also being arranged on the sidelines of the forum between Sewilam and senior officials and international figures attending the event.
The meetings will address ways to strengthen cooperation and exchange expertise in water resources management.
Egypt’s participation in the Euro-Mediterranean Water Forum reflects its efforts to strengthen regional and international cooperation on water resources, exchange expertise and perspectives on shared water challenges, and support international efforts to achieve water security and sustainable development.
The participation also comes as Egypt contributes to ongoing preparations for the 2026 United Nations Water Conference, according to the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation.
