Sudanese co-pilot arrested at Cairo Airport for possessing drugs

The East Cairo Public Prosecution ordered a four-day detention pending investigation against a Sudanese co-pilot on Tuesday for possessing crystal methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia at the Cairo Airport.

He was arrested while traveling as a passenger on a flight from Cairo to Port Sudan.

Airport security officers intercepted the Sudanese passenger—who works as a co-pilot for a Sudanese airline—carrying the drug and paraphernalia before he could board a flight operated by his own company.

The co-pilot admitted that he possessed the drugs for personal use and had exploited his airline uniform and work permit to board the aircraft without undergoing a security search.

The Public Prosecution ordered his detention for four days pending investigation and directed that he undergo a forensic drug test.
