Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty discussed regional developments and efforts to de-escalate tensions with Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani during a phone call on Tuesday.
The call came as part of ongoing communication and coordination between the two brotherly countries over developments in the region.
Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Nader Zaki said the two ministers reviewed the latest regional developments and efforts to prevent escalation, contain current tensions and avert a slide into military confrontation that could have repercussions for countries across the region and the world.
The ministers agreed on the need for intensive engagement with all parties involved in the crisis during the current period, urging them to demonstrate the necessary flexibility and allow sufficient time for the negotiation process to prevent further deterioration in the regional security situation.
They also stressed the importance of continuing coordination and consultations with each other and with other regional and international partners to de-escalate tensions, prioritize dialogue and prudence and work jointly to restore calm.
