Cairo Criminal Court on Saturday sentenced Hazem Salah Abu Ismail to one year in prison for insulting it while on trial.
The court was hearing the trial of Ismail’s alleged lie about the citizenship of his mother when Abu Ismail spoke from inside the dock without the court's permission. “I don’t want this lawyer, he never sat with me,” he shouted.
The court scheduled 16 April to issue the verdict.
