Screenwriter Tamer Habib revealed on Tuesday the latest developments for the sequel to his film “Sahar al-Layaly,” (Sleepless Nights; 2003), coming 22 years after the first.
In statements to “One Take” website on the sidelines of the El Gouna Film Festival, Habib added that the project is still in the casting stage.
Habib explained that the film will be directed by Maryam Ahmadi and produced by the Arab Company, noting that the new film’s cast will be from a completely different generation than the first.
“Almost all of the first film’s cast are no longer in Egypt. Khaled Abul-Naga is out of the country, Hanan Turk has retired, Jihan Fadel has emigrated, and I think Ola Ghanem is no longer in Egypt either,” he explained.
