The Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation announced its plans to provide large quantities of meat at various municipal distribution outlets at an affordable price before Eid al-Adha.
Head of the production sector at the Ministry of Agriculture Abdel Karim Zeyada said in a statement Friday that the price of meat at the ministry-affiliated outlets currently range between LE55 and LE65 per kilo.
Zeyada stressed that the price of the kilo of meat would be lowered to LE50 in Eid al-Adha.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation coordinates with the Ministry of Domestic Trade and the private sector to provide about half a million head of cattle, sheep, and cows to meet the needs of the market ahead of Eid al-Adha.
About a quarter of Egypt's needs of meat are imported while the private sector and the Ministry of Agriculture provide the rest.
