Airport arrivals, departures rebound to pre-revolution rates

The number of arrivals and departures through Cairo International Airport has returned to its normal rate, an airport source said Monday.

The rising number of Umra pilgrims and the return of Egyptian expatriate workers from Arab countries has increased the rate, the source told the Egyptian state-run news agency MENA.

The official said about 42,000 passengers pass through the airport each day.

The airport saw a sharp decline in passengers after the 25 January revolution. In July, former Civil Aviation Minister Ibrahim Manna said EgyptAir's seat occupancy was down by 50 percent.
