The public prosecution in Alexandria jailed on Thursday an unidentified defendant for 15 days pending investigations after he was discovered monitoring and photographing police forces standing in front of the First Instance Alexandria Court.
The defendant also filmed prisoners leaving the police deportation lorry in front of the court, the Mansheya police station said.
Police investigations claimed that the defendant created an account on social media to post false news about governmental institutions.
The prosecution accused him of joining an illegal group responsible for monitoring and photographing police and military personnel and posting their photos as well as false news on social media.
Since 2014, Egypt has witnessed a growing number of terrorist attacks carried out by ISIS and the Muslim Brotherhood in the mainland and Sinai, including various attacks against the army and police. The increase in terrorism followed the ouster of former President Mohamed Morsi in June 2013.
