The old villa that was once owned by Hafez Afifi Pasha, the former head of King Farouk’s Royal Court, will be demolished. It is located on Al-Hedaya Street in Alexandria.
Bloggers have posted pictures of the villa with its doors and windows already removed for the demolition team to start their work.
Mohamed Awad, head of the Architectural Heritage Preservation Commission, said the villa, which was built on 2,150 square meters, was among 42 other historical buildings dropped from the heritage list by court order.
