Amr Moussa condemns deaths in Israeli border raid

Amr Moussa, the former Secretary General of the Arab League and a presidential hopeful, condemned the killing of Egyptian military and security personnel during an Israeli raid on militants along the Egyptian-Israeli border in Sinai on Thursday.

He wrote on his Twitter account: "the blood of martyrs shed while performing their duties will not go in vain."

He went on to say that Israel and other countries should be aware that the political outlook in Egypt has changed, adding that there must be an appropriately strong response.

Moussa offered his condolences to the families of those killed, calling them "the martyrs on duty on the Egyptian eastern border."

Moussa claimed that four were killed, whereas military sources have instead reported two army officers and one security officer dead.

A military source also said that one wounded soldier was transferred to a nearby hospital.
