Amr Waked soars to new heights in ‘Geostorm’

Egyptian actor, Amr Waked, is taking part in a new cinematic experience that would take him farther than the limits of American cinema.

In his new film "Geostorm", Waked's character mans the International Space Station as the French security expert Dusit. Directed by Dean Devlin, the movie stars Gerard Butler, Katheryn Winnick, Ed Harris, and Jim Sturgess.

Waked, currently in New Orleans, told Reuters via telephone on Sunday that Delvin selected him for the movie. Shooting started last November at the former headquarters for NASA in New Orleans.

Waked expressed happiness for joining Hollywood actors and actresses in a movie with a "very huge production [value] compared to the staff taking part in it."

Waked, 41, studied at the American University in Cairo and started acting in 1994. He first appeared in cinema in the film "Fallen Angels Paradise".

He confirmed to Reuters that his features allows him to play global roles, but that he has refused many roles as they contradicted his principles and morals.

Waked added that after the film "Syriana" in 2005, he was offered to play the role of various terrorist figures, but he rejected them because the characters he was asked to portray were not depicted in a way he was comfortable with.
