Army: 6 extremists killed in North Sinai raids

Six extremist elements were killed in army air raids in North Sinai, a Egyptian army source said in statements late Sunday.

The source said the military had obtained information about extremist activity at the south of Sheikh Zuwayed and Rafah, which prompted an Apache raid on 32 terrorist havens, leading to the killing of six suspects, the demolition of an arms cache.

Egyptian Armed Forces have been carrying out military operations against extremist groups that has gained expanded presence in the peninsula since the ouster of former president Mohamed Morsy.
