Assailant throws IED inside hospital in Qena before health minister arrives

An assailant threw an improvised explosive device (IED) on Saturday inside the Qeft Central Hospital in Qena before the arrival of Health Minister Adel Adawy and Governor Abdel Hamid al-Hagan to inaugurate it after its renovation.

The device, which was made of two plastic pipes and an iron pipe filled with gunpowder, produced a small explosion without causing any injuries.

As no other explosives were found, the bomb squad allowed the minister to inaugurate the hospital.
