Egypt

Bad weather, rains, wind nationwide

Scattered showers and high wind were witnessed on Monday by several areas of Greater Cairo and other provinces.

In Qalyubia, heavy rainfall caused the water to accumulate in the streets and around bridge exits, hampering traffic.

Governor Mohamed Abdel Zaher has instructed the local authorities to remove the excess water as soon as possible.

In Kafr al-Sheikh, heavy rain disturbed fishing in Borollos lake, and the authorities called on drivers to exercise caution due to the bad weather.

Coastal cities and villages in the province, such as Borollos, Riyad, Sidi Salem and Metoubus were the most affected by rains, which continued for over one hour. The rainfall has also affected the wheat crops, which are now being harvested.

In Suez, rains were accompanied by wind and thunderstorms, which did not, however, affect traffic. Governor Al-Araby Al-Sarawy said in remarks on Monday that all companies in the governorate are working normally and that traffic at seaports is not affected.

Despite rains in Beheira governorate, temperatures were moderate. The rains have caused power cuts in a number of villages and cities.

Meanwhile, the traffic department has intensified its patrols to warn citizens against speeding on agricultural and desert roads, due to bad weather.
