Egyptian media personality Ahmed Shobeir clarified details behind reports of Barcelona seeking to purchase Hamza Abdel-Karim from Al-Ahly, following his impressive performance with the Blaugrana and his hat-trick against Monte Carlo in the Spanish Youth League.
The Spanish newspaper “Sport” has indicated that Abdel-Karim met the expectations of the coaching staff and all signs pointed to him deserving another chance after this season.
It explained that Barcelona informed Abdel-Karim of their intention to activate the purchase option stipulated in his loan contract, which extends until the end of the season.
Shobeir said during his show on Al-Nahar TV: “According to a source at Al-Ahly, the activation of the purchase option for Abdel-Karim is incorrect, but Al-Ahly expects this to happen in the near future, especially after the player’s outstanding performance and his three goals in today’s match.”
“Al-Ahly also said they want to help the player and hope he becomes a big star for Egyptian football and that he stays at Barcelona.”
Abdel-Karim scored a hat-trick in his team’s resounding 9-0 victory over Monte Carlo in the final round of the Spanish Youth League.
He also scored three goals for Barcelona’s under-19 team in the 16th, 27th, and 31st minutes, all with superb headers.
