Body of Chinese power-line worker to be cremated at Alexandria embassy

Egyptian prosecutors handed over the body of Chinese expat Yang Tianzhi to his parents to be cremated at the embassy headquarters in Alexandria, in accordance to his will.

Fifty-year-old Tianzhi, was killed on the job, after he fell from the top of a truck that was transferring huge power tower parts in Minya, for a Chinese company that specializes high-pressure power tower installation.

The deceased’s body was transferred to the morgue of Minya General Hospital.

According to the forensic report, the victim’s death was caused by fractures of the skull, a severe brain hemorrhage and respiratory failure. He also suffered bruises to the face.

The prosecutors handed over the body to his family for cremation, which is accordance to their beliefs.

Articles 19 and 20 on the Regulation of Cemeteries state that dead bodies may not be burned unless written in the will by the deceased and provided that his religious beliefs permit cremations along with the consent of the relatives.
