Brotherhood leaders released from jail

The Cairo Criminal Court ordered the release of Gamal Heshmat, a prominent  figure in the Muslim Brotherhood and a member of the group’s Shura Council. The court also ruled that Brotherhood members from the group’s administrative office in Beheira should be released.

Meanwhile, security forces released Ashraf Abdel Ghaffar, a member of the humanitarian relief committee within the Doctors Syndicate, who was previously arrested for his alleged membership in the Muslim Brotherhood’s international organization. Businessmen Khalid el-Beltagi and Ahmed Ali Abbas, who were  detained under similar accusations were also released.

Abdel Moneim Abdel Maqsud, a lawyer for the Muslim Brotherhood, expressed his relief that all members from the international organization had been freed, as this demonstrates that the accusations leveled against them were fabricated and untrue.
