Cabinet approves delaying electricity price rise until Jan. 2024

NEW ALAMEIN, Egypt, Aug 17 (MENA) – The Cabinet on Thursday approved the issuance of a decision by the minister of electricity and renewable energy to postpone a planned increase in electricity prices for another six months, until the first of January 2024.

This means that the state has so far postponed the electricity price rise for a total of 18 months.

The move comes in implementation of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi’s directives as regards taking a package of exceptional social protection measures amid the current economic situation.
