Cabinet to dismiss former NDP members, corrupt officials

Media adviser to the prime minister Ahmed al-Samman said Tuesday that the cabinet will announce on Wednesday the names of government officials set to be dismissed from office, having been members of the now-dissolved National Democratic Party or implicated in corruption cases.

Meanwhile, an official source said that Noha al-Zeiny, deputy chairperson of the administrative prosecution, has been nominated, along with four other women, for the post of governor, in accordance with cabinet’s keenness on providing opportunities for women to participate in politics.

However, the source said that such a move would be difficult to apply in the governorates of Upper Egypt, where some residents might not accept a woman in government.
