Cabinet reshuffle very soon in Egypt: sources

Informed sources said on Saturday that Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly will introduce a new cabinet reshuffle on his government and submit it to the parliament very soon.

This reshuffle includes portfolios, such as the Industry and Trade Ministry to which Nevine Gamea, the Director of the Micro, Small & Medium Enterprise Development Agency, has been nominated as a successor to current minister Amr Nassar, the sources said.

They added that Deputy Minister of Social Solidarity Nevine Kabbaj for the Social Solidarity Ministry is a candidate to succeed Ghada Wali – though there are other names for the same position such as Maya Morsi, the head of the National Council for Women.

Among the amendments are merging cases that include the Tourism Ministry within the Antiquities Ministry, which is expected to be held by Khaled al-Anani, the current Antiquities Minister.

The reshuffle will include important ministries, such as justice and aviation, and appoint deputy youth ministers broadly to be relied on during the coming years, the sources stated. They added that there is a new philosophy in the formation of the cabinet that includes the appointment of deputy prime ministers for economic, social and service affairs.

The list is likely to be presented to Parliament very soon in a plenary session to vote on it at once and for all, the sources concluded.
