Cairo Airport customs seizes American who tried to smuggle military clothing

Cairo Airport Customs authorities, on Friday, apprehended an American who tried to smuggle military clothing – the possession of which is prohibited according to the law – in his luggage upon his arrival from France.

Legal measures were taken against the passenger and presented to the relevant security authorities.

Informed sources at the Cairo Airport said that during the customs procedures for passengers of Air France Flight AF570, coming from Paris, customs officials suspected the luggage of a 31-year old American of Yemeni origin.

His bags were found to contain military clothing, the import or circulation of which is prohibited in accordance with the decision of the Minister of Trade and Industry No. 151 of 2015 and the instructions of the Ministry of Defense and in violation of Customs Law No. 66 of 1963, Import and Export Law No. 118 of 1975 and security instructions.
