The Ministry of Transport has extended operating hours for the Cairo Metro starting Thursday, February 19 aiming to accommodate the shift in passenger traffic during Ramadan 2026.

Interchange and transfer times
To ensure seamless travel across the network, the final trains will meet at major interchange stations at the following times:

Anwar Sadat Station (Lines 1 & 2): Last transfer at 1:00 AM.

Gamal Abdel Nasser Station (Lines 1 & 3): Last transfer at 12:30 AM.

Attaba Station (Lines 2 & 3): Last transfer at 12:30 AM.

Cairo University Station (Lines 2 & 3): Last transfer at 12:15 AM.
Operational enhancements
The Authority also confirmed that headway times (the time between trains) will be reduced to 4.30 minutes during the afternoon peak hours immediately preceding Iftar. This measure is designed to alleviate overcrowding and facilitate the high volume of commuters heading home.
