Cairo University to allow police to enter campus in case of violence

Cairo University President Gaber Nassar said Monday that the university council has unanimously approved the decision of the Supreme Council of Universities to allow police to enter campuses in case of violence.

He also said the council asked the government to send a copy of their decision classifying the Muslim Brotherhood as a ‘terrorist’ group and mechanisms for implementing the decision.

“The university will not tolerate anyone violating the law, whether they are faculty members or students,” he said.

Meanwhile, Nassar said that he supports holding the presidential elections before the parliamentary elections.

“Egypt needs a president that can take firm action,” he said.

Clashes have been taking place at universities between pro-Muslim Brotherhood students and security forces in recent weeks in protest of the government decision and coup.
