
Cairo University is taking steps to deepen its global academic footprint, following a high-level diplomatic and academic visit by a delegation from its historic Kasr Al-Ainy Faculty of Medicine to China’s prestigious Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
Mohamed Sami Abdel Sadek, President of Cairo University, received a comprehensive briefing outlining the framework of the visit, which aims to forge new academic and medical partnerships, supercharge joint scientific research, and elevate healthcare training systems.
The move comes as part of Cairo University’s broader strategy to expand collaborations with top-tier international scientific institutions, launch joint degree programs, and sharpen its regional and global competitive edge.
“Kasr Al-Ainy possesses a deeply rooted legacy in combating diseases and epidemics,” Dr. Abdel Sadek stated, highlighting that this historical expertise provides a powerful foundation for robust scientific cooperation with global medical pioneers.
Hossam Salah, Dean of Kasr Al-Ainy, emphasized that the mission to China was specifically designed to tap into new avenues of partnership, with a particular focus on medical education, clinical training, and knowledge exchange.

Joint academic frameworks: Developing co-sponsored graduate studies and research initiatives.
Workforce upgrading: Crafting training mechanisms for medical and nursing personnel to share clinical best practices.
Administrative innovation: Studying the latest operational and therapeutic management models deployed within Chinese university hospitals.
The Egyptian delegation also toured Shanghai Jiao Tong’s affiliated university hospital, holding direct talks with their Chinese counterparts on clinical exchange programs designed to directly modernize healthcare delivery and internship training back in Egypt.
