CAPMAS: Monthly inflation rises by 3.2 percent in March

The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) said that the inflation rate recorded 166.5 points in March, marking a 3.2 percent rise in comparison with February.

Meanwhile, the annual inflation rate rose to 33.9 percent in March 2023 against 12.1 percent in the same month last year, according to a statement issued by CAPMAS on Monday.

CAPMAS attributed the rise in the monthly inflation rate in March to the increase in the prices of food and beverage by 5.3 percent, poultry and meat by 5.0 percent, seafood by 4.9 percent, dairy products by 2.5 percent.

The agency, meanwhile, ascribed the rise in annual inflation mainly to the significant increase in the prices of food and beverages by 62.7 percent, entertainment and cultural services by 26.1 percent, restaurants and hotels by 48.2 percent, and miscellaneous goods and services by 29.0 percent.
