The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) reported that a cargo ship was struck by an unidentified projectile in the Strait of Hormuz.
The environmental impact of the incident remains unknown, it added.
The UKMTO, on behalf of the Joint Maritime Information Center, announced on Monday that the maritime security threat level in the Strait of Hormuz remains critical due to ongoing military operations in the region.
The UKMTO added that mariners are advised to coordinate with Omani authorities via VHF channel 16 and should consider taking a route through Omani territorial waters south of the Maritime Traffic Separation Scheme, where the US has established an enhanced security zone.
